SALVATIONS!!!
July 2008
This year, the people of Iglesia Bautista Libertad have taken it upon
themselves to step out in their faith in God and act on His will to win souls.
This year, the church as been faithfully praying for salvations, has been
soul-winning and inviting people to church. We must admit that, at times,
we have gotten a little discouraged as the Lord did not give the fruit that we
expected, but the people kept praying and working. A group came from the
States under Go Forth Baptist Missions, and the Lord allowed them to reap
from what the church had been planting and watering. Over 40 people
made professions of faith in Jesus Christ as their Saviour through the
efforts of the Go Froth group and Iglesia Bautista Libertad!!
One exciting testimony is of Tomasa, Raquel’s mother. Raquel’s husband
is Rogelio, who is a van driver for the church and is studying to preach.
Tomasa had been coming to the church for over a year and had heard the
gospel many, many times. One Saturday night, Rogelio was able to lead his
mother and father-in-law to Christ. Tomasa gave her testimony in church
the next day and cried as she asked for prayer for the salvation of the rest of
her children. Afterwards, she told us that she will never again go to mass,
which had been her “way of salvation” her whole life up until she had
received the free gift of Salvation in Jesus Christ, the true and only way of
Salvation!!
Through the efforts of the church and the Go Forth Baptist Missions group,
we were able to reach out to Zoatlan, a small town close to Ixtlán del Rio.
Twenty people made professions of faith at the outreach!! We will be
following up on them in the coming weeks, and please be in prayer for that
effort. We know that Satan hates that the gospel was given to so many
people in a town he has controlled for hundreds of years.
The following is what was accomplished through the power of the Lord
while the Go Forth Baptist Missions team was here with Iglesia Bautista
Libertad: 4,000 houses visited; 2,000 tracts distributed; 550 John and
Romans given out; 40-45 people made professions of faith.
Rosa Julieta Ramirez-Fernandez is a college student who came down with
the Go Forth team. We had met her at the Campus Church Missions
Conference three months earlier and had talked with her about praying
about coming down and helping in the ministry here when she graduates.
She is staying with us until we head back to Pensacola in August. Her
Green Card was lost, and she must wait for another one to enter again into
the US. The Lord worked it all out for His good, though, as her staying is a
great opportunity for her to spend time here and see more first-hand where
the Lord may be leading her. She is acting as an intern for her time here.
She will be teaching the children’s classes, door-knocking, visiting,
discipling and more. Since she is here and cannot get back to the States
until August, she is missing a lot of work time and will be short more than
$1,000 for her school bill. We would like to ask if you would please pray
about helping her with this need. If you would like to help Rosa Julieta,
you can do it over the phone with a Visa, Master Card or Discover . Please
call the Business office at Pensacola Christian College at 850-479-6583 and
give her full name (Rosa Julieta Ramirez Fernandez) and college ID
number which is #104867 and let them know that you want to help with her
tuition for college. Or you may send a check made out to Pensacola
Christian College (Business Office) P.O. Box 18000 Pensacola, Fl 32523.
With the check, please have a note that includes her name and college ID
number and that explains that the check is for her tuition. Thank you for
praying about helping her out as she is a great blessing to us and to the
work the Lord is doing here!!
Thank you again for your prayers and support. It is amazing to see the
Lord work as we serve Him together in faith and prayer.
In the Saviour Jesus Christ,
Chris and Elizabeth Robertson
